This is the final "Chalk the Block" picture by Ms. Beatty's 8th and 9th grade students; B.E., A.F., A.G., A.M., K.T., E.S., and A.W. They were the only Junior High team at this event and represented Pleasant Grove Junior High amazingly. Thank you to all who came and supported their effort at this event.

Announcements for October 30, 2014

[Mr. Jolley Announcement]—Last Saturday Fidelity Investment came with 150 volunteers (employees and their families) and all the materials and supplies and did several transformation projects at our school.  The projects were: Wooden Benches around trees, Retaining wall around Rose Garden, Wooden Benches with mosaics outside the lunchroom, Viking Logo on Fence on Northwest corner, Renovated our name sign/wall out by road, Painted stair railings by front door and out by track, Painted lamp post bases in the parking lots, Repainted part of the track lines, Painted the pillars in Media Hall, Put up a large magnet board in English Pod, Painted Losee’s and Bullock’s doors, Made wooden benches to put in the hallways, and Put up inspirational quotes in the hallways.  They also had a school supplies drive for us.  We are so grateful for their volunteer service and support for our school.  We will have Thank You Cards you can sign on a table outside the lunchroom today and tomorrow and they will be available to sign in the Front Office when it is not lunch time.  Please take a moment to come and sign them.  This is a reminder from Mr. Jolley about Halloween costumes on Friday.  School Dress Code still applies.  No short skirts, no cross dressing, no full-face makeup, no masks, no weapons even if they are fake.  The Student Council will be holding a costume contest during flex on Halloween. Please sign up for it on the sheet in front of Mrs. Feld’s room.  Today for lunch you can choose from Turkey with Potatoes & Gravy, Chef Salad, Corn Dog, Chicken Patty Sandwich, or Pizza.  The Trivia Question for this week is:  “What year did Christopher Columbus go to America?”  You can submit your answer in the media center.  There will be no Business Club FBLA chapter meeting this Friday because Mrs. Twiggs is attending a meeting.  If you went to the RSL field trip, the play off game is this Saturday night. The game is at 6 pm.  All FBLA members are invited to go to our first competition on Wed. Nov. 5th, from 3:30 until 7:00. Come talk to Mrs. Twiggs for details.  If you still want to join FBLA we would love to have you. Come and get a application and join us in the fun.  Hey, FCCLA Members Don’t forget to come to our Halloween Scream on Friday during FLEX! Come in a costume for our haunted maze, halloween game, and yummy treats! See you Friday!  Are you interested in Wrestling?  Wrestling is starting for all 7th, 8th, and 9th graders on Monday, November 3, after school at 4:00pm at the HIGH SCHOOL.  So if you are interested in wrestling meet at the HIGH SCHOOL on Monday at 4:00pm.  Attention all 9th Graders:  On Thursday, Nov. 18th the Guidance Center will be taking 40 students to visit Utah Valley University and the new Mountainland Applied Technology campus at Thanksgiving Point.  All participants must have Satisfactory or Outstanding citizenship grades (no U’s or N’s), and there is a $5.00 bus fee.  If you are interested in going, please pick up an information sheet and permission slip from the Guidance Center.  If you are planning on trying out for the 9th grade boys or girls basketball teams, tryouts will be held starting on Monday, November 10th at 3:00 after school.  Before trying out, you must have a physical form filled out and turned into Coach Hardman or Coach Spilker.  You can get the forms from the coaches or the front office.  Good luck. Go Viking basketball teams.  To all 9th grade students:  If you are interested in getting a 9th grade hoodie or t-shirt please get an order form from the geography teachers or the front office.  Orders are due November 10th.  Students, the painted pumpkins have arrived in the Library. Come in and vote for your favorite today and tomorrow (Oct. 29th and 30th). The winner will be announced on Halloween. All entries will receive a prize. According to the dictionary, honesty is not lying, cheating, stealing, or taking unfair advantage.  It is being honorable. When you are honest, you have a peace within you. Other people trust you—at school, at work, at home, and out in society. You just go further in life. You respect yourself and others respect you as well.  Have a Thrilling Thursday Vikings!  Teachers, please have a student lead your class in the Pledge of Allegiance at this time.
